PATRIOT SCIENTIFIC CORPORATION said it will fight an attempt by Intel for a court ruling that a patent it says it holds on microprocessor clocking is invalid.
According to Patriot, it has already made complaints against Toshiba, NEC and Fujitsu and wants damages of several hundred million dollars.
But it said it will fight an application Intel has made in a North Californian court for a declaratory judgement that products do not breach Patriot's patents.
Patriot claims its patents cover microprocessor business estimated to be worth over $18 billion in 2003.
Since it filed those patents, it claims the total worth of microprocessors sold is in excess of $150 billion.
In a statement, Patriot said it was now likely to sue Intel for allegedly breaching some patents in its portfolio.
