Yep, albeit distantly. Obama and Pitt are ninth cousins, according to the New England Historic Genealogical Society, which traced their ancestral connection back to the 1700s when their common ancestor, Edwin Hickman, lived.
Researchers don't know much about Mr. Hickman, other than that he had two sons: James and Edwin Jr. But they do know that Obama and his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, are descendants of Hickman's son James. Brad Pitt, on the other hand, comes from Edwin Jr.'s side of the family.
Bonus: Pitt's not the only one with a politician in the family: Girlfriend and baby mama Angelina Jolie and Hillary Clinton are ninth cousins, twice removed.
