Nice post Lucky Gal,

I like Cheskis' foresight and ability to make the comments:

"There are many millions of devices for a mobile application that will consume a lot of wafer realty, and I don't think there is enough capacity in the world with existing VCSEL manufacturers [to fulfil demand for mobile applications]," he says. "But because of the time and investment we've made so far, we're ahead of the game and this is an opportunity for us to capitalise on our core competencies in six inch manufacturing."

From the news release “With the industry's first 6-inch VCSEL wafer fabrication line….

It seems like this "small" company (at first glance) have made the right moves planning for the future. They are a perfect partner for POET to have engaged.

Sounds like anyone "bigger" would not have had the output capabilities and expertise that this company offers making it (by far) the best choice for this technology.

The 2 news articles strongly suggest this pairing is the best industry fit for the VCSEL category.
