Here's what I found very interesting about that article....

tens of thousands of VCSELs can be processed on a single 3” wafer

We are talking about producing on 6" wafer...We must be anticipating or have orders for some a substantial quantity

also

up to and exceeding 25 Gbps

So...50 Gpbs seems to blow away the competition...

sounds like there is some definate revenue to be had here!
