I would not think that announcing a cc in advance gives a company carte blanche to announce material news during that cc. Companies announce cc's all the time, but they rarely contain NR-worth news. However, the fact that the call is after market close (and before markets open in Europe) may be the reason they can use the cc as a vehicle to announce something new. And, of course, they can always follow it up with an NR, which would probably be prudent. I doubt it will unfold in that fashion, however.
My thought, though, is that we'll get an NR prior to the cc if anything NR-worthy has occurred. They will then talk about the subject of that NR and, of course, their current status and their future plans in as much detail as is reasonable. If there is no NR prior, I suspect we will hear just about their status and future plans.
I'm sure many here have already formulated a trading strategy based on the upcoming cc. Not sure how many would like to share that strategy.
