News from 3D XPoint, the new memory technology Intel and Micron announced last July:

3D XPoint Steps Into the Light

Seems they are in their lab-to-fab transition now. And it seems that their non-volatile material isn't really that new (chalcogenide) and that they have to master some unique challenges.

They are expecting 12-18 months to get XPoint into mass production – might help to put POET Technologies' efforts into perspective.
