From the Nov 5th new release we know why Listwin received options.

" Additionally, in connection with the mid-year appointment as Chair of the Compensation Committee, Don Listwin was awarded 22,822 stock options exercisable over 10 years at a price of C$0.325, which will vest quarterly in arrears over the next two quarters, representing one half of the compensation approved for this position."
