Message: Strategic technology moves. The Queens Gambit

Leb, first of all, I think Suresh was using the word Zoom as a process, like we say Aspirin, for a type of medication, or Skidoo as a form of winter transportation. Brand names that have been have become synonymous with a process.

The terms OI and OE get mixed up, but are all together different things. Thr Optical interposer is the basic building block of the POET portfolio. It is manufactured at Silterra in Malysia on silicon wafers. The company has just stated that Silterra now has the the mask from which to mass produce wafers. The die of the wafers are built to different specifications depending on what they will ultimately be used in.

The wafers or individual die, we haven't been told the shipping format, will be sent to Super Photonics to be incorporated into Optical Engines to be packaged and sold for incorporation into Tier 1 transceivers

Again, without company disclosure, we don't know the details, but the sense is that the Lightbar is a  more simplistic form of OI that was discovered as a by product of the Optical Interposer development. So, that construct has been around for awhile. I suspect the Lightbar construct has had further development at POET, either in Singapore or Allentown, using the "mystery" Tier 1's NRE money, and the company has been qualifying it for some time. That's why it is the "first" product to market by way of validation lead time. This fits in with the company's roadmap to monetize a product "soon".

So, the optical engines for transceivers have to have their initial roll out from Super Photonics before their prototype's validation can begin. That process should wind up about the 3rd quarter of next year with orders and money in the 4th quarter.

Make no mistake, as Tom alluded, 2021 will be an exciting year for the company, because once the validation of Super photonics Optical Engines begins in some Tier 1 companies' tranceivers and the data starts to circulate within the industry, POET will be on the map big time.

IMO, of course
