The POET OI is the iPhone moment for photonics.

And of course, just like the iPhone, the OI platform has drawn not just praise but also cynicism.

Just like the iPhone, the incumbents held most of the market, and we all knew what happened to them as they refuse to adapt (re: BlackBerry).

Steve Ballmer ridiculed the iPhone, said it would never take off.

Meanwhile, AAPL the stock languised throughout the financial crisis.

The rest is history.

The lesson: let the process play itself out. The company is led by domain experts with decades of experience in the industry. The products have been validated by major end customers in China, and eventually it will make its way into North America.
