I don't think they've forgotten about the margin issue.

Imagine you go out to a farm, and the farmers complain that the harvest season is so painful because you have to go pick the berries by hand. They hope you could create a device that could help them. In their imagination, you'd create something that would 10x their ability to harvest berries, and make them crazy profit.

5 years later, you show up, but with a humanoid robot that would pick berries day and night, retiring all the farmers on the field in one swoop...

That's the problem with the OI, as far as my understanding goes.
