Leafs, I don't think we've ever reached an answer to that question which wasn't reliant on assumptions (confirmation bias) - other than the occam's razor response which tends to get one skewered by accusations of being a shorter (reverse halo effect).  We all hope the assumptions prove correct, but its not unlike a political discussion where attempted objectvity garners the classic "oh, so you hate freedom" response.
