Message: Customer Status

From ABC’s post from four days ago:

My most pressing question would be

1) What happened to all mentioned collaborations and their follow through, why aren't there any sales yet...are those "just" delayed or have we lost "customers"

----------------

It has taken an unexpected amount of time to arrive at a point where sales can be announced. I take this as being delays on the customer side and/or their end customers.

The longest relationship has been with FiberTop  They were the first customer and are scheduled behind BFYY as to when they will be production ready.

FiberTop is on board for the 100G Tx and Rx engines for 100G as per module displayed at the OFC. Missing is the 200G FR4 with status unknown. Should FiberTop actually be a “difficult customer”, nothing negative can be spoken about them or any of the others for that matter, despite investors wanting customer status other than the latest projections of readiness.

BFYY, a recent customer, perhaps more sophisticated and motivated than FiberTop, stated the initial order would be a volume purchase order (10,000 units). BFYY has a huge advantage in time and effort required to get to end of job because they are buying the POET ONE chiplet  that contains both Tx and Rx engines simplifying the process of  design, test and module creation.

It is not a pivot for POET to become a module maker for 800G+. A do-it-yourself approach, aside from being more lucrative and having the POET name on high-end modules, eliminates the reliance on the motivation, priorities and timetable for the SPX (middlemen) customers which have the the same kind of reliance on their product-buying end customers.
