The reality of how flexible the POET Optical Interposer is I think is starting to be realized. The whole starting point with how good the platform is begins with the discovery/ability to run multiple layers of conductor and optical waveguides in the same area at different levels very close to each other without interference. That really was the first interaction I personally had with Suresh when the realization occurred of just how excellent those properties are. That is what generated the excitement and the belief by Suresh that this ability would be recognized by major companies. They spent 1/100th of what major companies trying to achieve something similar using silicon interposers which has resulted in inferior capabilities. 

 

It has taken a longer time than Suresh anticipated for the market to understand what an optical interposer can do for them - but now suddenly it is "the way it has to be".  

They have produced capabilities with very little money. It took POET 5 months to achieve 200G lambda and it was done in a first pass to make it in time for OFC. It is a level of flexibility that no one else has achieved even with vast amounts of money being spent.
