looks like it (the bid price) dropped below $1,550 at about 3AM this morning.

There is strong support at $1,500 - $1,550 which explains the bounce. Even stronger support around $1,375. IMO breaking below $1,500 will be tough but not impossible if the euro keeps tanking.
