Anyway, it takes a password to install an app on the phone, but not to delete it. There is an exception to what is called "Bloatware". That is software that the phone manufacturer and/or carrier put on the phone which cannot be removed. In these cases, the software company is actually paying money to the carrier for this feature. Sounds crazy to actually pay someone to use your software, but it happens.

If you "root" your phone, you can overcome most if not all of these limitations. But if you root your phone, you are opening up yourself to virus, and a flaky phone, plus you void any warranty on the device.

So really the only way to keep your kids from texting or emailing or surfing while driving, is to not give them a phone that has these features.
