I can appreciate your point of view about a whistle-blower's deficiency in ethics/honour in "squealing" on his own gang.

However, I've read a couple of reports that indicated Maguire was merely passing on bragging remarks made by traders who have actually profited by participating in the manipulation. Perhaps there are other reports (one or more of which you may have seen) saying that Maguire himself had benefitted?

Regardless, I think this should be one of the year's top stories, and as you say, it will be quite interesting to see if the police can get anything out of the hit-and-run driver. My guess is "no", because he would have been hired in a manner virtually impossible to trace and probably can't "talk" even if he wants to!
