When the price of copper moves to the upside, it is usually does so with violent rips higher. Copper has on a number of occasions doubled in price within about a one-year period (03-04, 05-06, 20-21) and has even trippled within about a two-year period (04-06, 09-11).
These kind of violent moves happened in a world well before the full effects of global decarbonization on copper demand, before considerable copper supply disruptions and before the currently emerging political/social risks related to developing the desperately needed additional supply in many copper-producing countries.
A double for the price of copper from here brings us to $7.60/lb
A tripple for the price of copper from here brings us to $11.55/lb
Hey Teck! Stuff those prices in the NPV pipe and puff on it for a while...
