Romania and Hungary break monopoly "Gazprom" for the Balkans
Opening of the new pipeline will allow Bucharest to lower dependence on Moscow. Bucharest, February 08. The competition in the Romanian gas market will sharply increase in the near future when the gas pipeline Szeged – Arad will be put in operation. Building of a gas pipeline in cost of 70 million euro is already finished, and signing of the intergovernmental agreement between Bucharest and Budapest that will lead to falling of monopoly "Gazprom" which to the present time delivers Romania natural gas under the highest prices in Europe within the next few days is expected. The project Szeged – Arad is a part «Plan of economic development» of the chairman of the European commission José Manuelja Barroso and will allow to transport annually 4,4 billion cubic metre of natural gas. As marks the Romanian economic edition, in case of a new Russian-Ukrainian language of the gas conflict Bucharest can already count on the help of the European Union.
