Very nice looking cores. I was wondering what the "end" shots would look like. I guess the drill somehow darkens (burnes?) the outside of the core.

I have until recently, after switching from forestry work, had the opportunity to work at the old INCO mine in Shebandowan, Ontario. I know someone in the last week referred to Shebandowan as a former big deposit/discovery. I worked there for almost a year, and was "trained" for the job there by an old INCO veteran who worked there from 1959 until this spring. He knew everything, but you had to ask the right question to get the answer. Anyway, he pointed out "waste rock" that they used for building the roads etc, but it didn't take long to find pieces that were rusty coloured waste, that was in fact ore. I am not a geo. or have too much experience in mining, but when you break those pieces of rock in half, they looked exactly the same as the end shots of the NOT core. Also smelled like sulphur (sulphides). The deposit in Shebandowan was very rich as well. (don't know exact, but rich I was told) Those ends are not buffed, that is how the ore looks. It looks like money! I collected as many of those small pieces as I could. I would tell everyone that is my retirement fund. Haha. I wish, but it looks amazing- looks like metal. The old INCO veteran told me the pale green spots are the Ni. I thought that would be the Cu, but thats what he told me. You can see those pale green coloures on the close ups of hole 5. Lots of green=green.

If I am wrong about anything, please let me know- I'm no expert. If anybody knows how rich the Shebandowan ore was, also please let me know. I will dream fuzzy thoughts, if I can sleep.
