Should I move my RSP to NOT?

I've been thinking about doing this over the past couple months and might finally take the plunge and open up a self directed RSP account. I currently have my RSP's with RBC but also have a direct investing account so it wouldn't take much time to open the RSP aspect of that up.

I'm a young investor, only 24 years old so my RSP is only worth about $5000 but that still equates to roughly 1700 shares. Would it be worth moving that into an RSP and just letting it sit there until NOT does it's thing? Also, how long would it take for me to have the money transfered from my RSP to my self directed RSP, does anyone know?

Insight and personal opinions would be much appreciated. Show me some green thumbs if you think this is a smart decision. Speaking with some of the more knowledgable posters last night has gotten me even more excited about the future and I want to have as much money as I can in our baby!
