AGORACOM NEWS FLASH

Dear Agoracom Family,

I want to thank all of you for your patience with us over the past 48 hours and apologize for what was admittedly a botched launch of our new site.

As you can see, we have reverted back to the previous version of the site while we address multiple forum functionality flaws that inexplicably made their way into the launch.

To this end:

1.We have identified 8 fundamental but easily fixable flaws that will be corrected in the coming week, so that you can continue to use the forums exactly as you've been accustomed to.

2.Additionally we will also be implementing a couple of design improvements to "tighten up" the look and feel of the forums.

Have a great Sunday, especially those of you like me that are celebrating Orthodox Easter ... As well as those of you who are also like me and mourning another Maple Leafs Game 7 exit ... Ugggh!

Sincerely,

George et al

Message: Expect action on Ring of Fire in 2018: MPP

Respectfully f-451, I would draw the line at the responsibilities of what government does for people... so I Googled what Canadian Federal Government does and here is that answer:

The federal government is responsible for implementing the legislation of the Canadian Parliament. The British North America Actgives Parliament responsibility over national defencemoneybanking, bankruptcy, Aboriginal affairscitizenshipmarriage and divorceshippingrailwaysfisheries, interprovincial and international trade, the post officecriminal lawpenitentiaries (which house prisoners serving sentences of two years or more), the census and statistics, weights and measures, patents, and copyrights.

Now I didn't look up Provincial government but I do know that the highways and road systems in Manitoba are under Provincial and Municipal government responsibilities.

Therefore, I submit that roads are a Government's responsibility. Manitoba Hydro is a 100% Provincial Government entity (for now) and Ontario still has their fingers in Ontario's electric grid. Therefore, I would expect some Government input for a power line. They are already spending 60something million dollars on a Fiber Communications line so what's more important in your opinion, high speed communication or the electricity the runs the devices that allow high speed communications?

My point is I expect government to do what they normally do and this would include roads, power and clean drinking water... Now I submit that statement with a caveat... There is a reason that there are no roads up to those 9 reserves before today. There is a very good reason why those roads will be put in over the next year or 2 and that is for the Ring of Fire. There is value there in the ground where the Government can recoup some or more than their input costs to that area. My caveat is thata responsible gov't does not spend Billions of dollars to build infrastructure for 8-10,000 people. I as a tax payer would not stand for it! For an example, what would stop me from building a home 150 miles north of any known infrastructure and demanding the Governments of the day to supply me with infrastructure?

So you have my opinion based on what I know the Governments actually do today. Supply a road and electricity (and a railway in the not too distant future) for this area and recoup the input costs with the taxes that you charge from the minerals taken to market... The company who stands to make 10's of Billions of dollars can find the money to build the mine and smelter...
