I would have to agree with this expert. It's as if the market already knows this is coming and is desperately buying up whatever it can. This could explain why over the past several months LME volumes are moving so quickly at these $ 5-6 US / lb prices...I have been watching the LME charts very closely, and they have been dropping significantly on a daily basis for quite awhile. Instances where levels drop .5% - 1% / day are becoming more and more common place. I have even seen as much as 2%. To put things in perspective we were at approx. 220,000 tonnes just over 6 months ago; November 2018. At current nickel levels (164,100 tonnes) that is a difference in volume (Nov./18 - May/19) of 55, 900 tonnes, or a change of 25.4 % over 6 months.
