And the Us would keep the status quo in the Kingdom. May also explain the reluctance of the Us taking stronger actions following the murder in Turkey...

today the Us has fired up it energy industry.. So arguably may not be quite the threat.. However many nations have threaten the oil for US dollars arrangement . President Kadfi  ..and president Saddam.. With swift consequences..today many lobby to shift the demand supply curve of oil for dollars to some other vehicle currency .. To include Russia, Iran , China, and many others..  The implications of the Us Doolar as the global vehicle currency losing "market" share to China or some other basket of currencies is troubling.. 

So so an attack by selling off US dollars because of lack of faith that the a dollar is worth not worth a dollar in a nations foreign  reserves i.e. by China et al ..and a shift to accept other forms of payment for oil is a threat.. Not today because the world.. Is experiencing economic turbulence..the global economy needs the stability of the dollar... But ask the question... What will be the economic health of the Us if President Trump " falls"...
