Interesting. Someone flagged my following post as a violation:

I think POET is working to both improve silicon photonics with an integrated laser to showcase/demonstrate POETs OI capability which led to the Tier 1 paying POET to develop a full blown 400G OI based optical engine.

I believe that was a strategy put into place by both the Tier 1 customer who I believe to be Cisco and POET

Cisco's investment in Silicon Photonics can be improved by POET and that is probably what got their foot in the door.

It was flagged as a violation with the following statement:

Stating you think Cisco is involved with Poet is hyping because A a valued poster is saying it and B there is only one way most will read the post and that is as fact which is not the case.

I normally would not comment but maybe I should explain.

To be clear I do not have any direct knowledge of this. It is what I think. But there is I believe been enough said in terms of the size of the Tier 1 company and that they are a US company. And it is kind of hard to ignore what ITTR shared with this forum.

So yes I think it is Cisco but it could be another very big company. From what I  understand they expect to do  business with many smaller companies but no  one as big as the Tier 1 US company that they are currently working on 400G with.
