The question wasnt pointed to me, but just from my own experience, you can have 1000 shares of PYR and instead of selling them, you can sell 1000 shares in short position just next to it. Net you are zero (not exactly, there will be the borrowing cost of shorting the shares) but you can have 2 positions open, one long, one short.
