Bob Root, Chief Technology Officer, Keys Care

Bob is a former Fortune 500 high tech CEO and entrepreneur in Silicon Valley and Southern California. His background is product design, industrial design and engineering. He holds a number of US and international patents in data storage.

He is considered one of the early pioneers in the personal computer market in the late 70s through the mid 90s. Success Magazine, named Bob one of the Top 10 marketing CEOs in Silicon Valley and dubbed him, “The Imagineer of Silicon Valley.” He has started numerous technology companies and was a CEO and officer of four (4) publicly traded companies on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and NASDAQ. His experience spans startups, growth phases, IPO and M&A activities.

After his wife and Keys co-founder, Wendy Steele, was struck with Melanoma, Bob began to research and study skin conditions. Later when the prescriptions for creams and sunscreens made Wendy’s skin worse, he began to develop products for her that are chemical-free and therapeutic. When Wendy exhibited what looked like eczema, adult acne, rosacea and psoriasis, he turned to his engineering background to look for ancient remedies using modern technologies to improve on these tried and true natural medicines. These remedies became the foundation of what is today, Keys Care, Inc.

Bob is the Chief Technology Officer for Keys Care. He is responsible for the design, development and manufacturing of Keys products. Keys develops and manufactures natural skin medicines that are chemical-free, vegan, gluten-free and therapeutic for people and their pets.

Keys products are ranked as some of the safest product ratings by the EWG Skin Deep Report and their Solar Rx sunblock was ranked the most effective by Consumer Reports Magazine (July 2007) and the safest sunblock in the SafeCosmetics.org in their 2008 Sunscreen Report.

Bob is affiliated with The University of Maryland School of Medicine, Ohio State University, San Diego State University and Los Alamos National Labs. He is a member of the Safe Cosmetics Campaign and Keys is a compliant SafeCosmetics.org compact signer. Bob is also affiliated with the Natural Products Manufacturers Association and a member of numerous industry associations. He is the author of the book, “Defining Moments” and is in the process of writing a new book titled “Chemical Warfare, A quest for health from the outside in.” Bob has spoken at The Natural Products Expo trade shows, The Environmental Working Group, Cambridge Nano-Pharmacology Conference and many local events.
