During the whirlwind tour JB outlined the NDA requirements and said himself that they were a 'necessary obstacle' (paraphrase), that they were 'substantially restrictive' (again, para.) - and they did sound 'onerous' to me. So the 'land security' seems to me a good work around having additional benefits while lowering an obstacle.
That they chose to find a work-around rather than just gut the NDA terms tells me that JB's point and objective through the NDA's was valid.
