All due respect eb1945

Please read what I wrote and how you responded!

I said that they earned a certain percentage of fed/prov income..........NOT what percentage of wealth they possessed!

It seems logical that the top percent of earners would over time accumulate the majority of assets.......make sense?

However, It is also possible that a person who is not in the top 10% of earners actually becomes part of the 10 percent of Canadians who own 58.2 percent of the wealth simply by being prudent in their savings and investment activity.......or even by simply inheriting wealth........make sense?

You are talking about two completely different things. I'm always amazed at the number of people who don't grasp the difference between an income statement and a balance sheet.

Please, Why don't you find out what the minimum threshold is for a person to fall into that 58.2% category? I'll bet you'll be amazed how low the number is to be a member of this club. You might actually be a part of the very cohort you seem to despise

There are three basic tax rates and the highest earners are at the top rate, which may in fact be the same as the middle class, depending on what income figure you use to describe "middle class". However, please be so kind as to show how, and where, these high income earners are able to pay a tax rate that is less than that paid by the middle class?.....(the mid tier rate)........sorry, but not possible except in the world of urban legend.

Since you make direct reference to "tax evasion" (a criminal offence) you might want to call Rev Canada and report this evasion since you appear to have first hand knowledge of specific offenders.

I apologize to the board as I am now officially OFF TOPIC!

........carry
