It appears that this is being done already using plasma to recycle EV battery components....the market (recycling EV batteries to recover cathodes, etc.) is probably big enough to entertain multiple players assuming that some of this is not already patent protected.

Given the cost and the upcomming huge demand (for new ones...and getting rid of the old ones), this will probably become something that is commonplace and possibly mandated that they are porperly disposed.  Also, just the sheer volume of EV batteries that will litter the landscape once they are spent....how do you dipose of them?  and why would you if the materials may be rare and otherwise valuable?  From what I have read, these component materials can be reused after they are extracted (no real degredation).  I could also see this type of activity being subsidized or built into the new cost given the evironmental harm if not properly disposed.
