If I had good reason to believe the lab was on the verge of a valuable world-class discovery, I'd neither run it myself nor hire somebody else to run it. Instead, I would aggressively field competitive offers from substantial qualified co's in that business to partner with me, run the project, and earn a major stake in the discovery. Just what BG should be doing, hopefully is doing, with HM.
